Car traders post 10.9 pc turnover increase in November

The turnover of the sector specialised in the commerce with road vehicles and motorcycles increase by 10.9 pc in November 2010 against the previous month and by 13.8 pc against the same month of 2009 (both figures refer to unadjusted series), according to the National Statistics Institute (INS), quoted by Mediafax. In series adjusted with the number of working days and with seasonal factors, the turnover of the car and motorcycle trading sector in November went up 5.5 pc against the previous month and 8.8 pc year-on-year. The advance against the previous month was driven by the trade with cars and trucks (+14.3 pc), the maintenance and repair of vehicles (+7.5 pc), the trade with parts and accessories for vehicles (+6.5 pc) and the trade with motorcycles, parts and accessories, plus the maintenance and repairing of motorcycles (+4.9 pc).

The number of new automobiles registered last year declined by 18.5 pc, to 94,541 units, while in December it increased by 10.2 pc year-on-year, to 12,472 units, according to data provided by the Driving Licenses and Car Registration Department of the Romanian Police (DRCPIV). The number of second-hand cars registered last year rose by less than 1 pc last year, to 214,606 units, while in December they almost doubled vs. the same month of 2009, reaching 41,075 units.
