| San Andres rules Taipei supercross Posted: 08 Jan 2011 04:00 AM PST MANILA, Philippines — Multi-titled rider Kenneth San Andres began the new year with a bang as he ruled the 2011 Chinese Taipei International Supercross Cup last Sunday. The 2010 National Rider of the Year ruled both heats of the premier Pro Open in style, turning back the challenge of Thailand's Atison Raudreo (second) and Italian Brian Hsu (third) on both occasions. So dominant was San Andres, representing the Philippine-NAMSSA Motocross Team, that he left his chief rivals and the 12-rider field the scrambling in the trail of his dust, winning both heats by huge distances, with the second race reaching a winning length of 35 meters. "I guess I was just in tip-top shape as I was coming off a victory in the Philippine National Motocross Championship," said San Andres, referring to the last leg of the National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association-conducted series last Dec. 12 at the Speedworld MX Circuit in SM Bicutan, Parañaque. San Andres, who is backed by Oakley, Bridgestone Tires, HJC Helmets, Fox Racing,Polisport, EZ Trailer, Inside Racing, JBS Motorcycle Parts and Accessories and Bike Plus, recently captured his third National Rider of the Year crown in the Pro Open and 14th overall, including his exploits as a junior rider. The many-time Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) top awardee for motocross, is bracing for the 2011 season of the Philippine National Motocross Championship and the FIM Asian Motocross Championship Series, a leg of which will be held in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
